Archeokids at Curia Iulia in Rome

2nd December 2021

Presentation of the book “Scava con Archeokids. Il manuale del giovane archeologo” (Dig with Archeokids. The handbook of the young archaeologists) at Curia Iulia, the ancient Roman Senate.

With my colleagues Elisabetta Giorgi, Giovanna Baldasarre, Nina Marotta and Samanta Mariotti, we have been invited by Parco Archeologico del Colosseo to present our book for the series “Dialoghi in Curia” (Dialogues in the Curia). On the behalf of the director Alfonsina Russo, Federica Rinaldi – chief archaeologist for the Colosseum – introduced the book and Prof. Irene Baldriga (Sapienza University of Rome) presented the main themes of the book with a very inspirational discourse. We bloggers made an account of how the book has been conceived and what the different sections want to achieve. Before the conclusion, Andrea Schiappelli -archaeologist responsible for the educational programme – and Silvio Costa – comic writer, illustrator and video maker – introduced a new project between Archeokids and Colosseum, that will be out soon.

The invitation from Parco Archeologico del Colosseo has been an invaluable opportunity to present our book in a prestigious venue. It is very relevant that a renowned institution like Colosseum made room for a book for children and invited us to present the project Archeokids and the importance of heritage education.
